Accra, April 01, GNA – Many holiday makers marked the Easter Monday holiday with recreational events like picnics and at the beaches to climax the Easter celebrations.
A number of churches held picnics, while individuals, including children and the elderly thronged the Dansoman beach to have fun.
As at 11am a large number of people had converged on the Dansoman beach with music, food and drinks to spice up their activities while more families and friends were seen arriving with their ice chests packed with assorted drinks and other food items.
Many proprietors including beach owners charged a mandatory fee of GH¢2 per individual before allowing the revelers to enter the beach.
There were also number of security personnel deployed at the beach to ensure that the holiday makers stayed within the bounds of the law.
A Policeman who pleaded anonymity said their presence was to aid beachfront owners and ensure the safety of lives and properties.
He said they would do everything within their capacity to control the large number of people at the beaches.
He called on beach authorities to always cooperate peacefully with the security forces so as to ensure a peaceful celebration.
Some revelers expressed happiness over the high security presence and hoped it was maintained during subsequent holidays at the beach.
