As part of pre-marriage rites organised for the wives –to-be, the board charged prospective couples to maintain their new marital status by striving to stay in the marriage.
The Deputy Commander of the Women’s wing of the board, Malama Zahra’u Muhammad gave the charge while counseling the 1, 000 women to be married by the board.
She said that as women, the marital status was solely in their hands and there was need for them to be obedient to their husbands to maintain the relationship.
“We want you to be grateful to this administration by utilising the opportunity to stay in your marital homes and raise your families with fear of God.”
Zahra’u, however, cautioned them against being too dependent on their husbands.
The special guest at the occasion, Malama Atika Balamaiyafe, called on the women to reciprocate the gesture by staying happily in wedlock.
She warned that women had to maintain their position for their marriages to be successful, noting that when they failed their responsibilities, the marriages usually failed. (NAN)
