The race for the Ekiti Government House has begun in earnest. Former governor of the state, Ayo Fayose, is making a return to the government house in 2014.
To fulfil his ambition, Fayose is starting the preparations with a declaration in Ekiti on Friday, April 5, 2013. The declaration, which was earlier scheduled for Thursday, April 4, 2013, was postponed to Friday due to the visiting Ghanaian President to Ekiti State on Thursday.
His declaration was postponed to avoid any security hiccups in the state during the President’s visit to Ekiti.
The visit is initiated by the governor of the state, Kayode Fayemi, who may also contest the same position with Fayose under the platform of Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN).
Fayose is contesting for the gubernatorial election under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the same party he was elected governor of the state in 2003.
After he left the PDP few years ago, he decamped to the Labour Party until his recent return to the PDP.
He was welcomed back to the party and is now set to contest the gubernatorial election in 2014 in Ekiti State.
