Ashantigold have confirmed that their defender Prince Anokye has gone missing.
GHANAsoccernet.com broke the news about the disappearance of the 25-year-old from the team’s camp earlier on Thursday.
The former Asante Kotoko centre-back has not shown up at the team’s camp since their 3-2 defeat at Ebusua Dwarfs some two weeks ago.
Club officials have confirmed they are on a hunt for him.
“We are seriously looking for him. When we played with Ebusua Dwarfs, we scheduled our recovery training the following day, but he requested to sit out because he wasn’t feeling well,” Welfare Manager Gee Aidoo told Obuasi-based Times FM
“But luckily Doctor Bani was around and he checked him to ensure he was okay and came back to train with the side.
“But since that we have not set our eyes on him. We don’t know his whereabouts because he did not seek permission from anybody.
“I have personally gone to his house on few occasions but there are no signs of him. He has vacated from Obuasi.
“There is a pending letter withholding his salary and he has since not returned to the team.
“We can’t find him and so we’re looking for him.”
Anokye is not new customer in putting himself in trouble following his departure from Kotoko under controversial circumstances.
He was accused of indiscipline which led to him being transfer-listed.
He was rescued by Berekum Chelsea but failed to make the grades and resulted in the miners given him a life-line by signing him on a two-year deal.
