Christian Atsu has been ruled out of FC Porto’s League Cup match against Rio Ave on Wednesday after failing a late fitness test, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.
The talented winger trained with the side on Tuesday but has been told to sit down as a precautionary measure.
The 21-year-old picked up an ankle injury two weeks ago and has not been involved for the Portuguese side.
But he is believed to be making serious progress in the treatment room with his light training on Tuesday signaling hopes he will return to the pitch sooner than expected.
Porto will take on Rio Ave in the semi-finals of the League Cup at the Estadio de Dragao.
