Update: One person dead in Kumasi-Afrancho road accident





The police have confirmed that only one person has died as of now in the road accident that happened on the Kumasi-Afrancho highway in the Ashanti region Tuesday morning.

The deceased is the pregnant woman, who was walking by the roadside and was run over by one of the accident vehicles.

According to the police, eight injured persons have been sent to the hospital for treatment.

Three vehicles – a tipper truck, a Mitsubishi mini bus and a taxi cab – were involved in the accident.

The police gave the registration numbers of the accident vehicles as tipper trucK, GR 7872 V, Mini bus, AS 3216-10 and Opel Astra taxican, AS 4798 U

The driver of the taxi cab, who survived the accident, told Accra based radio station, Peace FM that he was just about to move his vehicle after parking by the roadside to check his tyre pressure when he spotted the Hyundai bus cross the tipper truck from the Kumasi end of the road.

He said the two vehicles veered off the road, run over the pregnant woman by the roadside and rammed into his taxi.
