Abuja – An Upper Area Court, sitting in Gwagwalada in the FCT on Tuesday remanded one Yakubu Agunlu of Angwan Geshi in prison for allegedly causing mischief.
Agunlu is standing trial on a two-count charge of criminal force and mischief, contrary to sections 263 and 226 of the Penal Code.
The Police Prosecutor, Insp. Martha Paul, said the accused entered the complainant’s vehicle without his permission and struggled with him while driving.
“The accused person entered the nominal complainant’s car when he stopped to pick a passenger at the SDP Junction in Gwagwalada.’’
Martha said the driver lost control of the vehicle and somersaulted.
She said that parts of the vehicle with registration number XD 960 LUY got damaged and would cost N250,000 to repair.
The prosecutor prayed the court to adjourn the case to enable her to invite witnesses.
Agunlu, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Judge, Mr Babangida Hassan, ordered the accused to be remanded in prison and adjourned the case to May 8 for hearing. (NAN)
