Hearts of Oak coach David Duncan has acclaimed his team’s fighting spirit in their come-from-behind win against Heart of Lions.

The Phobians fought from a goal down to secure a vital 2-1 win at home on Sunday to extend their unbeaten run in the second half of the season.

The win has propelled Hearts to 11th in the Ghanaian top flight – taking them further away from the danger of relegation.

And coach Duncan congratulated his players for their fighting spirit despite admitting his team looked nervous especially after going behind.

“We were a little bit nervous and that I can understand,” he said.

“We were nervous and edgy thinking about winning the game at all cost and this served as counterproductive in the sense that we played erratically.

“We went down by a goal so the players had to fight back and that could also be an aggravation of the situation that I have enumerated.

“But the best thing about all of that is that we showed character and eventually got the win to get the points needed.”

Hearts will now travel to face AshGold in their next Premier League game before hosting Amidaus Professionals at the Accra Sports Stadium.

“We can make it, though this qualification is a little bit tougher compared to the previous ones but we can make it,” he said.

“The most important thing is we have to win all our matches so we face Zambia who is currently leading the group.
