Sixteen people are suspected dead following a road accident that happened on the Kumasi-Afrancho highway in the Ashanti region Tuesday morning.
Among the deceased includes a pregnant woman, who was walking by the roadside and was run over by one of the accident vehicles.
Three vehicles – a tipper truck, a Hyundai mini bus and a taxi cab – are said to be involved in the accident.
The driver of the taxi cab, who survived the accident, told Accra based radio station, Peace FM that he was just about to move his vehicle after parking by the roadside to check his tyre pressure when he spotted the Hyundai bus cross the tipper truck from the Kumasi end of the road.
He said the two vehicles veered off the road, run over the pregnant woman by the roadside and rammed into his taxi.
