Fashola urges Lagos residents to show love, make sacrifice

Ikeja – Gov. Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State on Saturday called on residents to use the opportunity that Easter provided  to show love  to one another and make sacrifices for the overall good of the society.

In his Easter message, signed by his Special Adiviser on Media, Mr Hakeem Bello, the governor said it was through love and sacrifice that they could uphold Christ`s legacy of service to humanity.

He said the season should compel them  to review and reflect on their roles in promoting  and sustaining that foundation of love and peace that Christ laid and added that it was also a time to show more commitment to the development of the society.

“Therefore, as we celebrate the Easter  in sober recollection of Christ’s crucifixion, let us think about how we can each help to steer our nation back on the road to peace, by working in the spirit of oneness,“he added.

Fashola  thanked residents for  the understanding they had demonstrated to one another  over the years ,irrespective of their ethnic ,religious and other differences, and pointed out that this had ensured mutual  love and peaceful co-existence in the state.

He nonetheless ,implored them to shun  acts  that could undermine the peace and development of the state, charging them to be vigilant ,abide by laws and demonstrate acts that pointed  to moral rectitude. (NAN)
