Police arrest Ashanti Regional Minister’s PRO

Police in Kumasi have arrested Ashanti Regional Minister’s spokesperson for allegedly driving an unlicensed vehicle.

Francis Dodovi was picked up at about 7: 45 p.m. Thursday, at Roman Hill, by a combined police and military patrol team.

Sources say it took the intervention of some officials from the Regional Coordinating Council to get him freed, after more than 45 minutes of interrogation.

Mr. Dodovi’s apprehension was part of an aggressive approach by security personnel in the region to clamp down on criminals following recent attacks on residents in parts of Kumasi.

He confirmed the arrest to Nhyira FM’s Kofi Asante, in a telephone conversation, after his release.

Meanwhile, armed police and military personnel have taken over the streets of the Kumasi metropolis to restore order.

Nhyira News checks indicate more than two hundred unlicensed vehicles have been impounded.
