The Deputy Communications Director of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Samuel Awuku says Ghana is on the brink of collapse due to what he says is the mismanagement of the economy by the Mahama-led administration.
He likened the country’s economy to a patient on a sick bed who is not responding to treatment.
Sammy Awuku made the assertions on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Friday in reaction to the power crisis in the country.
The country is currently faced with socio-economic challenges stemming from the ongoing erratic power supply. Government has come under huge criticisms from consumers for not finding a lasting solution to the problem.
But President John Mahama in his maiden State of the Nations Address in Parliament assured there will be an end to the power crisis in April.
But Sammy Awuku unimpressed with the president’s promise said he [Mahama] is being economical with the truth.
He indicated that President John Mahama’s November deadline last year never came to fruition and thus doubts the April time limit.
“Why should I believe President Mahama when the power outages still persist? Ghanaians expect solutions not restating the problems to them” he added.
The NPP youth activist urged government to quit the propaganda and tell Ghanaians about the true situation on the ground.
“We never bargained for this incompetence; Ghanaians are getting poorer and the NDC seems not to have the solution to save us from the shackles of poverty” he bemoaned.
Sammy Awuku said the only option left for Ghanaians is to pray for divine intervention.
“The nation is under spiritual attack and until we take steps to redeem it, the socio-economic crisis will never end”.
