DPP passes vote of confidence on Ewherido

UGHELLI — DEMOCRATIC People’s Party, DPP, Delta Central Chapter, yesterday, passed a vote of confidence on Senator Pius Ewherido, the Senator representing the Central Senatorial District of the state.

A faction of DPP, led by the State Secretary of the party, Engr. Lance Orhiero, had on Tuesday passed a vote of no confidence on the Senator over his alleged failure to attend meetings of the state executive committee of the party and non-empowerment of party faithful.

Moving the vote of confidence, which was seconded by Chairman of DPP in Udu Local Government Area, Mr. Peterson Idiaka at a meeting of the party in the district, Mr. Cyril Ogodo, noted that there had never been any time when any senator had bought over 50 vehicles for his followers.

Chairman of the party in the senatorial district, Chief Henry Olori, said the motion for vote of no confidence passed on the Senator was null and void.

He pointed out that the meeting was convened with utmost disregards to the provisions of DPP constitution.

He noted that the Senator had done so much in initiating empowerment progra-mmes and scholarship scheme worth over N25 million for over 250 students in tertiary institutions.

Olori stressed the need for the state executive of the party to “look into the activities of the people, who are trying to draw the name of the party to disrepute and call them to order, so that wrong signals are not sent to the people.

“We know that these people are doing these things for selfish reasons.”

On the allegation that Ewherido had not been attending the party’s meetings, Olori explained that invitations to such meetings had never been extended to the Senator.
