Five children killed in mid-night inferno, as 10 die in auto crash

KANO – Five children from same parents were among 15 souls that perished in two separate accidents in Kumbotso and Takai councils of Kano state, weekend.

The minors who were said to be siblings of Magaji Tambaya, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Kano State University were burnt beyond recognition during the mid-night fire at their Wreca residence in Panshekara, outskirt of Kano municipality.

Officials of Kano State Fire Service told Journalists in Kano that “the fire incident in the official residence was reported around 1.50am Saturday”

The Head of Operations, Kano state Fire service, Kashim Musa Bichi said cause of the fire could not be ascertained immediately, adding that ” it took my men hectic time to put off the inferno”

In a related development, ten people have lost their lives in a motor accident Saturday evening, at a village near Takai, Kano- Kari Expressway when a Toyota bus had a head on collision with a Peugeot J5

Eyewitness told Vanguard that scores sustained various degree of injuries in the autocrash that involved over 30 people.

Kashim Musa Bichi of Kano Fire Service who also confirmed the incident told reporters that ” the corpses and the injured have been taken to Dan’masara General Hospital near Dutse, Jigawa State capital”.
