
Akropong Akuapem, Feb. 11, GNA – The Akuapem Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, has presented laptop computers to all Presbyterian Senior High Schools (SHSs) within its catchment area.
The beneficiary schools include Coaltar Presbyterian SHS, Aburi Girls SHS, Mampong Presbyterian SHS, Aburi Presbyterian Senior High and Technical, Adukrom Senior High and Technical School, Adeiso Presbyterian SHS, Suhum Presbyterian SHS and Larteh Presbyterian SHS.
Reverend George Opare Kwapong, Chairman of the Presbytery, made the presentation at Akropong Akuapem on Monday.
He said the donation was part of the Presbytery’s efforts to help students study for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination.
Rev. Kwapong expressed concern about indiscipline among the youth in the country, and appealed to parents to instill the fear of God in their children.
He appealed to the government to provide more classrooms and other infrastructure for schools.
Rev Samuel Adjei Muyihintum, Headmaster of the Presbyterian Senior High and Technical School, on behalf of his colleagues, praised the Church for the gesture.
He also appealed to individuals and organisations to assist the schools with buses.
Rev Muyihintum called on the government to provide accommodation for teachers in the schools, to ensure effective supervision of students, and to facilitate teaching and learning.
The Akuapem Presbytery over the past three years had presented vehicles to each of the Presbyterian SHSs within its catchment area.
