Salamon Kalou has handed over a bet of N780, 000 ($5,000) to his former Chelsea teammate John Obi Mikel after the latter emerged victorious in Sunday’s quarter final duel at the on going Africa Cup of Nations.

Humble

Kalou now plying his trade in Ligue 1 with Lille admitted that the Elephants fell to a better side in Nigeria, reports futaa.com.

According to him it was a difficult game for both teams but at the end the better side on the day (Eagles) got the win.

“He (Mikel) won today, so I have given him what’s due,” Kalou remarked.

The former Chelsea ace stared for 69 minutes in the 2-1 loss to Nigeria before being replaced by M.Gradel.

Long wait

For years now, Cote d’Ivoire has been considered the most talented team in Africa but would have to wait a little bit longer to get another AFCON trophy since after their triumph in 1992 at the Dakar, Senegal edition.
