Anchor pledges support for the underprivileged

Anchor Insurance Company Limited has said it is committed to supporting the underprivileged in the society through its corporate social responsibility programme.

The Deputy General Manager, Marketing, Anchor Insurance, Mr. Uzo Ufurum, said this when he led a delegation of the company on visits to the Modupe Cole Memorial Childcare and Treatment Home, Yaba; and Lagos State Motherless Babies Home, Lekki.

“We value corporate social responsibility, that is why we decided to visit these special citizens because we want to know how they are coping and want to support them by providing for them,” Ufurum said.

The Head, Brand Management and Corporate Communications, Anchor Insurance, Mr. Kehinde Olaniyi, said the visit was the company’s way of celebrating the beginning of the year with children.

The company, he said, delighted in helping the underprivileged and special citizens.

According to him, Anchor will always continue to add value to the society through corporate social responsibility.

The Vice Principal (1), Modupe Cole, Mr. Benjamin Omole, who represented the Principal, Mrs Folake Duromoju, expressed appreciation to Anchor Insurance.

He said that the home had continued to cater for the mentally-retarded in the society.

Omole said, “Although, we have other children in this home, the major area is still with people with disability, we cater for the mentally-retarded.”

He noted that some parents who had such children often lock them up as they did not know how to train them.

The home, he said, had about 36 homes spread all over Lagos, where specialists and professionals train the children.

According to him, the children are also trained in vocational exercise.
