Windhoek — Having made his debut in domestic football with the now defunct exciting Okahandja-based Liverpool Football Club from Katima Wanderers way back in 2000, Zambian national William Chilufya made a name for himself in the maroon and white colours of Civics from 2004 – 2008.
The 29-year-old free-scoring striker won the golden boot award in 2007 with 17 goals to his credit and also walked away with the prestigious Player of the Year accolade after he single-handedly steered Civics to an unprecedented three league titles on the trot in the lucrative MTC Premiership League.
His unmatched goal-scoring prowess caught the eyes of talent scouts and it was not long before the pocket-sized net-rattler found himself on the books of Angolan giants, Estrela Clube Premeiro de Maio in 2008.
He spent four solid seasons with de Maio, before winding up his campaign in Angola in the lower division with Sportivo de Huela.
After a successful 5-year stint in the Angolan Premier League – Chilufya has now resurfaced in his adopted country with Katutura glamour football club African Stars where he has penned down an 18-month contract.
Meanwhile, sources with intimate knowledge of the inner doings at Diaz House let it slip that Stars is on the verge of offloading misfiring Zimbabwean import Clarence Foroma, who was signed amid much fanfare at the beginning of the current term.
