The disappearance of two boys a day after the landlord of Number 18, Taike Street, Ikosi, Ketu, Lagos died and was buried in the house, has thrown residents into panic.

Though the disappearance has been reported to the police at Ketu, residents of the house and their neighbours have expressed fears about their safety and that of their children.

P.M.NEWS investigations revealed that the two boys, Fadhilu Tajudeen and Toheeb Adedokun, both three years old, went missing last Friday, a day after the landlord of the house died and was buried at the entrance of the house.

The deceased landlord, Alhaji Sabitiu Alao, was a local technician in the area and reportedly died after a brief illness. He was buried same day according to Islamic rites.

The missing kids were said to have  disappeared while playing with their colleagues in the fenced compound.

Narrating what happened, Toheeb’s mother, Mrs. Adijat Adedokun, a foodstuff seller at the Ketu Market, said his missing son was playing with others in the compound around 7 p.m., the day he disappeared.

“I discovered that he was missing when I wanted to go and pray in the mosque. I looked everywhere but he was nowhere to be found. A search party went round the area looking for him but he was not found. It was after this that we reported the matter to the police at Ketu,” she narrated.

On who she suspected could have stolen her boy, the distraught mother said she observed that many sympathisers visited the house to condole with the family of the landlord, a day after he was buried .

“I don’t know who abducted my son but all I know is that many people came to our house that day to condole with the wife and family of the dead landlord. Some of the visitors are our neighbours and we know them. I want the police to find my boy for me. He is my only joy,” she sobbed.

“Since my boy was taken from me, I have not slept,” she added.

Mrs. Adedokun further told P.M.NEWS that a man identified only as Tambolo was arrested by the police in connection with the disappearance of the boys.

She disclosed that Tambolo phoned her husband the night the children went missing and asked him to come with another man. He, however, changed his mind and refused to talk to the family again, she said.

In her own story, the mother of Fadhilu, Mrs. Fatimo Tajudeen, said she has not rested since her child was abducted.

“We have reported the matter at the Ketu Police Station and a man identified as Tambolo has been arrested but we have not seen the boys,” she said.

P.M.NEWS visited the Ketu Police Station where the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, Umar Lamma, confirmed the arrest of the suspect.

He explained that Tambolo reportedly called the father of one of the victims, promising to see him for the release of the boys.

The police officer assured that investigation had commenced to locate the whereabouts of the missing boys.
