Nigeria’s mediation in the war torn nations of Northern and Southern Sudan Saturday night in Addis Ababa got a boost as President Goodluck Jonathan once again met separately with delegates from the two countries.

The dual parley was the first official engagement of President Jonathan upon his arrival at the Ethiopian capital for the 20th African Union Summit holding there.

Details of the closed door meetings between  President Jonathan and South Sudan President, Salva Kiir Mayanditt and his Sudan counterpart, Umar Hassan al-Bashir, which were held at different times in separate locations in Addis Ababa, Ethiopian Capital, were not known.

However, there was a confirmation that the detailed discussions, which were started and held at various times in Abuja, were focused on brokering peace between the two neighbouring nations.
