Kwesi Pratt Jnr.: Ghana Captain Asamoah Gyan Is Totally Uninspiring

Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr. has said Ghana captain and Al Ain striker Asamoah Gyan is an uninspiring captain for the Black Stars at the ongoing AFCON tournament in South Africa.

Making a contribution as a panelist on Peace FM’s morning show programme “kokrokoo” a day after Ghana beat Mali by a lone goal to nil, he said Asamoah Gyan needed to do more to inspire his colleagues as he has displayed an abysmal performance and squandered clear chances in the ongoing tournament.

According to him the team need to show more seriousness and hardwork on the pitch and play better looking at the resources being put into football alone.

However, he urged the coach of the team, Kwesi Appiah to show his class by making his boys play better to justify why Ghanaians fought for a Ghanaian coach to handle the senior national team.

“So far it has been a performance from the team”, he told Tweneboah Kodua (TK) host of the programme.

A solitary penalty strike from Mubarak Wakaso was enough to hand Ghana their first win in the 2013 African Cup of Nations as the Black Stars beat Mali 1-0 in their second Group B match at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Thursday afternoon.

Ghana will play Niger in their last group match on Monday, January 28.
