Two Legon students die in accident

Two 19-year-old female level 100 students of the University of Ghana have died in a motor accident, Friday morning at Okponglo in Accra.

They were on board a KIA Avera taxi cab with registration number GE 4707-12, which collided with a Mercedes Benz refuse truck with registration number GE 645 X.

Superintendent Frank Anning of the Legon Police Station who confirmed the accident to Joy News said the taxi was on its way to the University when the accident occured.

The driver of the taxi cab and one other passenger survived with serious injuries.

They are on admission at the 37 Military Hospital, where the bodies of the deceased persons have been deposited.

The truck driver was unhurt and is currently in police custody.

A school mate of the deceased said both girls were former students of Holy Child in Cape Coast. But it is still not clear was courses they offer in the university.

Meanwhile, Professor Dominic Fobih, a former Minister for Lands, Mines and Forestry during the erstwhile Kufuor administration, has confirmed to Adom News that one of the victims in the fatal accident, Lordina Fobih, was his daughter.
