A Political Scientist at the University for Ghana, Dr. Seidu Alidu has opined that the second list of Ministerial appointment is indicative that the President wants to rely on the expertise of both new and old human resource.

“The President wants to rely on the old experienced Ministers or Deputy Ministers who have worked in the previous NDC [National Democratic Congress] government. And at the same time, he also wants to tap on the new experience of people who have not been in the system for quite some time.”

President John Mahama on Thursday released another list of Ministerial appointments.

Notable amongst them is the nomination to head the Attorney General and Justice Ministry, Mrs. Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong.

Dr. Alidu Seidu stated that there will be a lot of pressure on Mrs. Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong, deliver.

According to him, “the Ministry Justice and Attorney General is one of the Ministries that we’ve had a new face. Not a lot of people have heard about Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong except for the fact that she is part of the current legal team of the President.”

He described the Ministry as a “very important Ministry” and “government has lost a lot of vital cases and I am thinking that the President will not put somebody there who is not that experienced or who is not that much abreast with our current domestic legal framework.”
