Allow Mahama To Form His Govt – Ablakwa

The Member of Parliament for North Tongu constituency, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has called for calm among NDC supporters who are rooting for their favorites to be appointed ministers.

According to him, the President must be allowed to form his government to achieve the party’s manifesto promises.

Speaking on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana program, the outgoing Deputy Information Minister said the government has a huge task ahead and therefore urged lobbyists and party supporters to tone down on their jostling for positions.

“I believe that it is important for us to respect the judgment and discretion of our President, we have to also empathize with our President…it is also important that as party members we support the President, this is not a time to show that we violently disagree with the President that you have to go on rampage and destroy properties.

“In all of this jostling and clamoring for positions you don’t seem to get the impression that people are really focused on where we are as a nation.

“…there are serious promises and the electorates will hold you to it so we should just not be excited that we want people to be ministers. We should pray for those there to succeed because the electorates have shown that they are very discerning.

“If you look at the task ahead, some people should even be running away from ministerial appointments but it looks like in this country the focus is only on perhaps the office, honour and the pegs of it and not the task at hand”.

Meanwhile, the Communication Director of the NPP, Nana Akomea has described as unnecessary, the creation of the ministry of Government Business in Parliament.

The position is to be occupied by majority leader Benjamin Kumbuor.

It was named the Parliamentary Affairs Ministry under former President Kufuor but Nana Akomea says the new name for the ministry under the NDC is irrelevant.
