City Mall, Alausa gutted by fire

LAGOS — Property worth billions of Naira was salvaged, Tuesday, when fire gutted parts of the ever busy Ikeja City Mall, Alausa, which left some  customers and workers at the Mall scampering for safety.

The fire which occurred at Mr. Price retail store section of the mall, where all kinds of clothes are sold, broke out at about 11a.m.

When Vanguard visited the scene of the fire incident, all the entrances to the Mall were cordoned off by security personnel to ward off hoodlums from taking advantage of the commotion to loot.

Only fire fighters, mobile police officers and emergency managers were allowed in.

Normal business activities at the mall, housing Shoprite and about 100 retail and wholesale shops were disrupted, leaving customers stranded for hours.
