IGP to unveil 2013 Police Games today

The 10th edition of the biennial Nigerian Police Games will be unveiled today at the Force Headquarters in Abuja by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) M.D Abubakar.

The 10-day biennial Police Games is scheduled to commence February 24 in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
According to organisers of the sporting event, the unveiling ceremony will be attended by prominent personalities in sports, including the Director General of the National Sports Commission, NSC, Chief Patrick Ekeji.
Beside Ekeji, who will be in attendance as representative of the sports minister, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, there will also be in attendance ambassadors and high commissioners like the Vietnamese Ambassador among others.
Meanwhile, the Force Deputy Public Relations Officer, CSP Frank Mbah, had told the media that the IGP had approved Port Harcourt, Rivers State as the host city for the popular Police Games, picking February 24 as the kick-off date for the 10-day sporting event.
The spokesman assured that the police would organise a befitting games saying talents abound in the force and when discovered, would be groomed to represent the Police and the country at future competitions.
“The IGP has graciously approved the Nigeria Police 10th biennial Police Games, scheduled to hold between February 24 to March 2.”
