The Whole Of Lagos Remains My Constituency, Says Fashola

Fashola-12-11-2012LAGOS State Governor Babatunde Fashola has debunked the insinuation that most of the projects in his administration are focused on Surulere, his council of origin.

He said this during a visit to the corporate headquarters of the City People Magazine in Gbagada on her sixteenth anniversary in the publishing business.

Speaking during an interactive session with journalists, senior management and staff of the organization, led by the Publisher, Mr Seye Kehinde, Fashola explained that the expansion of Lekki Epe Road and Lagos Badagry Expressway are major projects of the state government and the two areas are outside Surulere.

The governor added that areas like Obalende, Orile, Oshodi, Ajegunle and Ojo have felt the impact of his administration, just as Apapa, where the state government has completed the first phase of the regeneration exercise there and would resume the second phase after some issues have been sorted out.

Also, Fashola disclosed that when the state government started work in Yaba with the design of 33 roads, there was no representative of Yaba on the Lagos cabinet, explaining that the renewal of road infrastructure was embarked upon as a developmental agenda because the middle class lived there.

On how the state is handling security problems, he stressed that security challenges are not peculiar to Nigeria alone.

“It is the issue of civil war in some places, while for some it is terrorists and other places are contending with petty burglars, winter, flooding, landslide and fire,” he noted

Fashola urged citizens to obey laws, insisting that laws are to be obeyed.
