Ghana’s Best Talent To Watch Out For At Afcon

Christian Atsu has been tipped to shine at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations

Christian Atsu’s career has progressed quite rapidly to this point.

The Ghanaian winger already has five caps and two goals to his name on the international stage, and he has been named to Ghana’s provisional squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.

Club-wise, Atsu is coming off a successful loan spell with Rio Ave, in which he scored six goals in 27 games.

But Atsu has found things to be a bit more complicated at Porto this season.

Initially, Atsu was given a run of four starts in the club’s first five games. But after failing to impress manager Vitor Pereira, Atsu was dropped. He has since played only 97 minutes of game time.

Atsu’s pace is his biggest asset, and his dribbling abilities are what make him a real prospect. However, if he wants to become a fixture in Porto’s lineup, he’ll need to work on the rest of his game.

Only then will he be given another chance to prove his worth to Porto and the fans.

Christian Atsu (born 10 January 1992), known as Atsu, is a Ghanaian professional footballer who plays for F.C. Porto in Portugal, mainly as a left winger.

Atsu won his first senior cap for Ghana on 1 June 2012, against Lesotho, scoring in the process. He was described by the BBC as an “excellent prospect”.
