Anthony Annan Out For ‘One Or Two Days’

Anthony Annan was taken out of Ghana’s game with Egypt as a precautionary measure, but should be fine in a day or two, according to the team’s doctors.

The player, who captained the team, landed awkwardly before the half hour mark and was subbed by Derek Boateng, but Kwesi Appiah says there is no need to panic.

“Everything is fine among the players. The only person who had a big injury, I think, is Anthony Annan and it was not that big [an injury]. He did not actually land well but according to the doctor he should be out tomorrow [Friday] or the day after tomorrow.”

An unfamiliar eleven, positionally and on the face it, started the game and dominated throughout, with Egypt being dangerous on the few occasions they chose to surge forward with purpose.

Anthony Annan has been key to the Black Stars since he came to the fore in the 2008 African Cup of Nations. He currently plays in Spain for Osasuna where he is on loan from German side Schalke.
