UPDATED:

06:49 EST, 24 April 2012

This weekend TOWIE star James ‘Arg’ Argent proved his critics wrong when he succeeded in completing the London Marathon in a very respectable 6.01 hours.

But his achievement didn’t come without drawbacks, as the 24-year-old wrote on his Twitter page that he was suffering badly following the 26-mile run.

He tweeted last night: ‘3 hours sleep as literally crying with pain all night. Cramp, aching

all over and i cant physically walk. Bed Bound, Whose proud!? #Marathon.’

"Triumphant:

Triumphant: James ‘Arg’ Argent headed out yesterday with the help of his TOWIE pal Joey Essex after completing the London Marathon on Sunday afternoon

Arg’s admission that he was finding the comedown after the 32nd annual race difficult came as he was given a helping hand as he headed out yesterday with fellow TOWIE star Joey Essex.

Wearing a navy blue tracksuit, Arg struggled to hide the pain from his face as he made his way into the car – his arm slung around Joey’s shoulders.

However, the reality TV star also looked more than triumphant as he headed out, still wearing his gold medal from the race.

"Struggling:

Struggling: Arg looked exhausted, and told his followers on Twitter that he had only had three hours sleep due to the pain following the 26-mile race

"Helping

Helping hand: Arg slung his arm around Joey’s shoulders as the pair headed out on Monday morning

Arg finished Sunday’s race with a time of 06:01:01 and has raised an impressive £3526 for Cancer Research.

After the race, Arg proudly tweeted at the end of the race: ‘6 weeks ago I was 18 stone and couldn’t run down my road. Just completed London Marathon.

‘Received so much stick n lots believed I wouldn’t do it but proved those

Haters/Doubters wrong! Hope Granddad Seamus is proud! #CancerResearch.’

"You

You can do it! An exhausted Arg during the final leg of the London Marathon

Giving it all he’s got: The Only Way Is Essex star finished with a time of 06:01:01

He was joined by co-stars Cara Kilbey and Billi Mucklow, who finished with times of 05:47:45 and 06:02:37 respectively.

Wearing a large yellow cardboard arrow

on his head with his name painted on in black, Arg set off with the

37,500 athletes from Blackheath Common.

He looked raring to go, laughing and joking with the other runners, before pulling the thumbs up for the cameras.

"It's

It’s hard work: Arg had started the race with a massive yellow arrow on his head, but took it off when he got hot

"Going

Going strong: By 5pm, Arg had raised £3308 for Cancer Research on his Just Giving page

Gearing up: Arg at the beginning of the marathon at Blackheath Common

But during the race he looked to be struggling a little as he put his hand on his head.

He eventually took his headpiece off as he started to sweat profusely and ended up walking the last few miles of the race.

And after it was all over, the reality star was helped to a cart and driven to where his car was parked.

"A

A helping hand: Arg was seen being driven to where his car was parked in a golf cart after the race

"Well

Well done! Arg posted this photo of himself on his Twitter account after finishing the race, holding up his medal

"By

By the numbers: Arg’s marathon times on the official website

Arg revealed in February he would be running the marathon and only started his training last month.

He

was reportedly warned by health experts that he will need to quit his

unhealthy eating otherwise he would struggle with the race.

Arg went to bootcamp in Marbella with

co-stars Gemma Collins and Joey Essex to get a bit of training in, and

was seen running with his friend in the latest episode of TOWIE.

He revealed his three stone weight loss on the show, and also sported new veneers and shaped eyebrows.

"Out

Out in force: Arg’s co-stars Billi Mucklow, left, and Cara Kilbey, right, also ran the marathon

"If

If he can do it, they can! The girls with Indian-born runner Fauja Singh, aged 101

Achieving their goal: Billi at the start, finished with a time of 06:02:37, and Cara at the end after finishing 05:47:45

Arg

said his makeover was partly for ex-girlfriend and co-star Lydia

Bright, who broke up with him over his lazy ways and for cheating on

her, she said.

He also revealed yesterday that he lost weight after Joey Barton insulted him off on Twitter.

He admitted he was ’embarrassed’ by the QPR captain’s slurs.

Barton, 29, tweeted: ‘Leave it u Stonehenge teeth. Cheeky man giving it bigguns, leave it large undies. Right fatty now ur fair game. Can’t believe ur giving it with them teeth like a burnt down fence.’

Arg told the Daily Star: ‘Joey Barton had a real pop at me on Twitter. I don’t really care now. He’s just a bully. But

the stuff he said about my teeth really got to me. I had been planning

to have them fixed for a while and it did give me that extra push. I’m definitely looking better than Joey now!’
