Luanda \u2014 The international relations analyst, Belarmino Van-Dunem, held Wednesday in Luanda that Angola is engaged in the South African bid for the presidency of the African Union Commission (AUC) by the imperatives of the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC), which assumes the presidency in office.<\/p>\n

The academic, who spoke exclusively to ANGOP, explained that the position of Angola cannot be confused, because as president of the organisation it must deliver what its statutes establish.<\/p>\n

He recalled that the SADC statutes provide that when a community or region is a candidate for any office, whether at the international organs and particularly the AU, it is the chairman in office not only disseminate, but also submit the application.<\/p>\n

He also considered that in the diplomatic point of view, Angola has clearly a large advantage in the bilateral relationship than South Africa and believes that a real and decisive involvement of the country can make a difference in the race for leadership of the AUC.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
