Kenya women\u2019s U-17 team coach Doreen Nabwire and her assistant, Irene Mborie, are confident they can record a victory over Nigeria on January 21 in the Africa U-17 Women\u2019s World Cup qualifier.<\/p>\n
After the naming of a squad of 46 players preparing for the first leg to be held in Nairobi, Mborie said they want to be the first Kenyan team to defeat the two-time African champions.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want to have a good time preparing for that match. It will be a big battle, owing to the history our opponents carry, but that will not deter us from emulating our U-20 sisters, who stunned Lesotho,\u201d Mborie was quoted as saying in Daily Nation<\/em>.<\/p>\n Nabwire was equally confident. The return match will be held in Abuja after a fortnight.<\/p>\n The players were picked after a three-day national trials as Secretary General of Football Kenya Federation, Lodorvic Aduda, promised to provide good facilities for their training.<\/p>\n \u201cWe want them to have a good camp, far from any distractions and we have settled for Matuu. They will be based here for the next 16 days before they travel to Nairobi,\u201d said Aduda.<\/p>\n The team manager, Eliud Wambua, said,\u00a0 \u201cThe ministry will officially communicate to schools of respective players and seek release of the youth who are now on national duty so that they can also continue studying while at Matuu,\u201d said Wambua.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
