Durban – Durban businessman Toshan Panday and his co-accused Colonel Navin Madhoe appeared briefly in the KwaZulu-Natal High Court in Durban on Monday on bribery and corruption charges.<\/p>\n

The matter was postponed to 11 February 2013 for the State to finalise its investigation.<\/p>\n

Panday and Madhoe are accused of trying to bribe KwaZulu-Natal Hawks’ boss Major-General Johan Booysen.<\/p>\n

They allegedly offered him R2m to backdate a report on an investigation into accommodation tenders worth R60m.<\/p>\n

The State said it had new evidence, consisting of recordings of intercepted telephone calls.<\/p>\n

Defence attorney Jimmy Howse, for Panday, asked the State to provide him with the recordings.<\/p>\n

He also sought access to outstanding items that would be used as evidence.<\/p>\n

The State had to provide the defence with copies of hard drives, flash drives and computer discs.<\/p>\n
