He told the crowd he would relay the complaints to the premier.<\/p>\n<p class=\"arcticle_text\">Mtshali said he had to attend a council meeting on the same day.<\/p>\n<p class=\"arcticle_text\">He said yesterday that he had been informed that most of the marchers were not residents of his ward.<\/p>\n<p class=\"arcticle_text\">Mtshali said mobile toilets were being provided for the area and more were planned for other areas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"arcticle_text\">Electricity had been installed in one of the 17 informal settlements in the ward and two housing projects, which would benefit four settlements were on the table, he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"arcticle_text\">There was a strong presence of metro police and SAPS in the area.<\/p>\n<p class=\"arcticle_text\">Police spokesman Captain Thulani Zwane said the march was authorised by the city manager, S\u2019bu Sithole.<\/p>\n<p class=\"arcticle_text\">He said the Aquarius Building was private property and no authority to enter the premises was granted, \u201chence the marchers were dealt with outside the premises\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"arcticle_text\">The marchers dispersed peacefully, Zwane said. &#8211; Daily News<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>View article:<br \/>\n<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.iol.co.za\/shack-dwellers-march-stopped-1.1438403\" title=\"Shack dwellers march stopped\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Shack dwellers march stopped<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Independent Newspapers A of shack-dwellers were prevented from entering the premises of a Durban ward councillor to deliver a memorandum of demands.
