Prof Emmanuel Asante said the declaration is inconsistent with the laws of the country.<\/p>\n<p>The NPP scribe Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie at 20:15 GMT entreated party supporters to start jubilating by tomorrow because its flagbearer has won the election with a 51.3 per cent.<\/p>\n<p>Addressing a press conference at a rather odd hour-2330 GMT in Accra, Prof Asante called on all to exercise restraint in the face of the \u201cunfortunate press conference\u201d by the NPP.<\/p>\n<p>He admonished the media not to provide its platforms for such \u201cpremature press conferences,\u201d saying \u201cwe are living in a sensitive time [and] that calls for more restraint.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said the stakeholders must not undermine the mandate of the Electoral Commission which has the vested power to declare results.<\/p>\n<p>Prof Emmanuel Asante urged all not to be disturbed by the press conference and also urged the ruling party not to react negatively to the earlier press conference.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span class=\"story_text_1\"> <\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p> Rev Emmanuel Asante The Ghana National Peace Council has described as \u201cpremature\u201d a press conference by the New Patriotic Party which declared its flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo as winner of Friday\u2019s election.Head of the Council Most Rev. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":0,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-237318","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","category-business"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.8 -
