But for the timely intervention of a team of soldiers backed by some military police personnel, there would have been a serious clash of voters at the New Town Post Office polling station in the Ayawaso Central constituency of the Greater Accra Region on Friday.<\/p>\n
Over 10,000 voters were expected to vote at the three polling stations at the post office, however a misunderstanding ensued when the voters could not agree on a proper demarcation of the queues, leaving the winding queues to run into each other.<\/p>\n
The resulting misunderstanding led to exchange of harsh words, while the three policemen assigned to the three centres lost control of the situation and were reduced to spectators until one of them sent a distress call for reinforcement.<\/p>\n
The presence of the well-armed and heavily built men brought instant calm which allowed the voting process to proceed.<\/p>\n
Several polling stations in the Ayawaso Central constituency saw high turnout and early attendance as some voters started queuing as early as 3am to enable them exercise their franchise early.<\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
