{"id":140797,"date":"2012-07-19T12:20:12","date_gmt":"2012-07-19T12:20:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/2012\/07\/four-communities-want-fairness\/"},"modified":"2012-07-19T12:20:12","modified_gmt":"2012-07-19T12:20:12","slug":"four-communities-want-fairness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2012\/07\/19\/four-communities-want-fairness\/","title":{"rendered":"Four Communities Want Fairness"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><div><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/394edr_afari_gyan.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-50473\" title=\"dr_afari_gyan\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/394edr_afari_gyan.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"246\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Dr Afari Gyan \u2013 EC Boss<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Representatives of four communities in the Garu-Tempane constituency, Gelakologo, Kugrago, Bugnatenga and Barboaka, have called on the Electoral Commission (EC) and the government to critically examine the demarcation of the constituency.<\/p>\n<p>This, according to them, would ensure that the creation of the boundary does not cause conflict and instability in the Garu-Tempane District of the Upper East region.<\/p>\n<p>The representatives noted that the four communities, all of which are suburbs of Garu, would fall under the new constituency to be created out of the Garu-Tempane constituency.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese communities are in the core of Garu Township and therefore it looks quite unreasonable to create them out of the Garu constituency.<\/p>\n<p>Reports say the new constituency\u2019s capital is likely to sited at Woriyanga or Basyonde, 18 kilometers and 25 kilometers respectively from Garu.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe first and unanimously agreed demarcation line was to be the river between Garu and Tempane, popularly called Tempane Bridge.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Spokespersons for the four communities, Francis Awini Akologo, Cephas Asam, Peter Agomah and Braimah Charles Anambe, raised these concerns at a joint press conference organized at Garu in the Garu-Tempane District of the Upper East region.<\/p>\n<p>According to the representatives, political interference would not be entertained because it could cause chaos in the Garu-Tempane district. They therefore called for proper and non-political consultation of all stakeholders to avert chaos in the Garu-Tempane District.<\/p>\n<p>They however advised the chiefs in the area not to unduly influence authorities creating the boundary for fear of losing their jurisdiction.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo conclude, we wish to stress that the Electoral Commission should, as a matter of urgency, come to Garu-Tempane constituency and do due diligence to ensure that a more acceptable boundary is created to avoid any confusion.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>\u00a0From\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0<em><strong>Ebo Bruce-Quansah, Garu<\/strong><\/em><\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p> Dr Afari Gyan \u2013 EC Boss Representatives of four communities in the Garu-Tempane constituency, Gelakologo, Kugrago, Bugnatenga and Barboaka, have called on the Electoral Commission (EC) and the government to critically examine the demarcation of the constituency.
