The anti-human trafficking unit of the Police service has confirmed the arrest of an American couple for allegedly trafficking four Ghanaian children.<\/p>\n

Sol and Christine Moghadam were picked up last Friday as they were about to enplane with the children to their base in California.<\/p>\n

The children, two boys, believed to be between 10 and 13 and two younger girls were found together with the couple\u2019s biological children.<\/p>\n

Director of Operations at the Police Criminal Investigations Department, Frank Kwofie, who confirmed the arrest to Joy News, says investigations have started.<\/p>\n

According to him, the couple claim to have documents that the children have been adopted but intelligence suggested otherwise.<\/p>\n

He said they have previously had documents purporting to have children adopted but it turned out to be false documents.<\/p>\n

Joy News has discovered a video blog<\/a> in which the couple narrated the processes they followed in the adoption of the children.<\/p>\n

Anny Osabutey who is following the beat said the couple Sol and Christine Moghadam came together based on their principle to help destitute children.<\/p>\n

The couple accused the police of failing to provide them access to their lawyers after the arrest.<\/p>\n

They also blamed the US Embassy of not protecting US citizens in Ghana, more so when children are involved.<\/p>\n

They insist they followed due process in adopting the children.<\/p>\n

The police however say they are still conducting thorough investigations into the matter.<\/p>\n

Frank Kwofie said the couple were picked up based on reasonable suspicion of child trafficking and are being investigated.<\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
