A Sokoto State High Court has admitted in evidence the memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the joint account between the state government and 23 local council chairmen in the N15 billion corruption trial brought against the former governor of the state, Attahiru Bafarawa and 15 others.
A statement by EFCC spokesman Wilson Uwujaren yesterday said the presiding Judge, Justice Bello Abbas had on Monday admitted in evidence documents in the corruption suit brought against the former governor and 15 others by the EFCC.
“Also tendered to the court was the cash book of the state Ministry of Local Government, which was allegedly used by the former Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi, to withdraw funds from the account,” the statement said.
Bafarawa, was arraigned on December 16, 2009 before Justice Abbas on a 47-count charge for breach of trust, misappropriation of public funds and money laundering to the tune of about N15bn. The case was adjourned February 13.
