There is no doubt that even a casual look at the new music videos in Ghana today will tell every novice that music videos have seen a great evolution. From the hay days where Ghanaian artistes would shoot music video with the National Theatre or some flowers in the background to the days where Becca would spend a whopping $50,000 for her music video.
It was appropriate therefore that for the 4th year running, MTN 4SYTETV VMAs keeps recognizing and patting our creative directors in the industry on the back to keep their juices flowing.
This year’s edition, which will celebrate the top music videos in Ghana, has over 19 categories. The categories include Best Group Video, Best Male Video, Best Female Video, Best Choreography Video, Best Directed Video, Best Photography Video, Best Gospel Video, Best Collaboration Video, Best Reggae Video, Best Story Line Video, Best Edited Video, Best Special Effect Video, Best African Act, Best Hip hop Video, Best Hiplife Video, Best Hi-life Video, Best Discovery of the Year, Overall Best Video and the Most Popular Video.
For most music directors and producers, it has been a nice idea pitching their videos against others.
This Saturday evening, it will be another great night of celebration of the creme-de-la-creme of the videos we have been enjoying and applauding in our offices, bedrooms, sitting rooms, restaurants and wherever it is that we watch them.
Aside from the presence of a large number of celebrities and nominees, there would be several other surprises. The event night has been much anticipated and it is going to be a night of glitz, music, dance, joy to see eagerness, zeal and joy of recognition.
The award presenters have so much swag about them they will thrill the crowd. Just to wet your appetite, the best duos in the music industry are on hand to rock the house; talk of VIP, R2bees, Keche, 4×4, Itz Tiffany and other surprise artistes have also been lined up to liven the night and make it memorable for patrons alike.
There will be yellow carpet with VIP treatment for the premium ticket holders this year has had some major improvements with high standards set and lots of Stars, fame, glamour and pleasurable experiences.
This year’s MTN 4SYTETV Lifetime Achievement Award will be awarded to a distinguished personality whose contribution to music and society in all facets is unmistakable. Last year the coveted award went to Ivan Quashigah and this Saturday the new winner of that award will be unveiled.
MTN 4SYTE VMA is the crowning of all entertainment balls in Ghana and will see the opening of a new chapter in the music industry.
