Dante jumped at chance of joining Bayern

Bayern Munich’s Bastion Schweinstieger and Jerome Boateng celebrate victory at the end of the match

New Bayern Munich signing Dante has revealed that he jumped at the chance to join the club and that he hopes his experience will be a useful asset for the club.

After months of consistent speculation, it was confirmed that the Brazilian will be moving to the Allianz Arena from Borussia Monchengladbach at the season’s end, and the 28-year-old says that a move to Die Roten was too good to turn down.

“With a team like Bayern Munich, you don’t have to think about it. They’re one of the top five clubs in the world, and to come to a club of this size was always one of my goals,” he revealed to Globoesporte.

“It’s great to feel important within their project.”

Dante went on to say that he hoped his experience would be key in guiding young centre-backs Jerome Boateng and Holger Badstuber in the coming years.

“There are two young centre-backs and I think I can help them. Club officials told me clearly to rely on my experience – they’re very good, but they’re new.

“They want to blend youth with a little more experience, and I want to help them get what they always expect: winning titles.”

Another Brazilian centre-back, Breno, has been unsuccessful at Bayern, with a lack of form and personal problems hampering his progress at the club.

However, Dante maintains that his compatriot would have fared better under different circumstances.

“Breno is a great guy and a great player also. He hasn’t had much luck at Bayern and has been through a difficult time. I don’t know if he had the right people to help him.”
