Abuja -The US Embassy in Abuja, the federal capital territory, Monday, said there were gunshots fired near its offices, though, no one was reported killed or injured.
In a statement, the embassy said it “believed there were shots fired” and that police arrested two people afterward.

However, Police authorities in Abuja disclosed that they were unaware of any attack on the American Embassy in Abuja even as members of the Anti-Terrorist Squad and Bomb disposal units deployed to carry out investigations about alleged shooting incident said nothing of such was discovered.
FCT Police Public Relations officer, Superintendent of Police Jimoh Moshood, told Vanguard on phone that they had no recorded incident of any such shooting pointing out that even the Divisional Police Officer(DPO) responsible for the location of the Embassy was dispatched to the Embassy and reported no evidence of the alleged shooting.
A statement from the American embassy had read,” We believe there were shots fired in the vicinity of the U.S. Embassy. The Nigerian authorities have two individuals in custody. We refer you to the Nigerian police for further information.”
