Obi douses tension…says Anambra remains calm

BY PETER OKUTU

Reacting to the development, Governor Peter Obi said the state was calm and peaceful, in spite of the problem it experienced Thursday.

Obi said it was normal for people or towns in any part of the world, including developed countries, to witness disturbances once in a while.

Commiserating with  family of the person that lost his life from police shooting, he said the moment he got the information, he was in constant touch with the security agencies, adding that within two hours, normalcy returned to the state.

He appealed to the people to go about their business as government would continue to protect  lives and property.

In his reaction, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, Col. George Molokwu (Retd), said only one life was lost.

He debunked the rumour that more than one life was lost. In his words: “Much as we do not want the loss of any life, we regret that one life was lost. We thank the security agencies for rising up to the occasion by bringing the situation under control. We thank the people of Anambra State for their understanding and assure everybody that Anambra will remain calm and peacefully. “

Molokwu appealed to those who may want to take the opportunity to be rascally, to realize that in the event of any untoward act, the State will be hurt.
