Egypt: Investigating Judges of NGOs Case – Document Prove Receiving Illegal Funds Seized

Judges investigating the funding of a number of non governmental organization NGOs said in a press conference on Wednesday 8/2/2012 that investigation panel found secret banking account statements in the names of the suspect NGOs and parsons.

The government raided 17 civil society organizations in December under accusations that they received funding from foreign governments in ways that violated Egyptian laws.

The judges said the NGOs operated in Egypt without obtaining the necessary licenses from the government and they meddled in Egyptian polities in ways that has nothing to do with civil society activities.

After searching the Headquarters of the organizations working in Egypt illegally a decision was issued to put the number of foreign defendants in the lists of those barred from traveling, they added.

The evidence against these organizations reached about 67 ones, they didn’t respect the Egyptian laws as they were working with tourist visas and they have violated tax laws.
