Johannesburg – The husband of murdered Pretoria mom, Chanelle Henning, has denied being involved in his estranged wife’s death.

Nico Henning’s lawyer, Werner Bruyns, told Eyewitness News that his client was not involved in the attack.

Chanelle Henning was shot dead in a drive-by shooting moments after dropping off her son at pre-school in November.

In a dramatic twist, it recently emerged in court that her estranged husband had called his close friend, Andre Gouws, before the shooting, allegedly asking him to delay the murder.

Gouws was arrested in connection with the murder and is believed to have organised the hit.

The Hennings were involved in a custody battle over their 5-year-old son and a decision was expected within days when the murder occurred.

While police have said that Henning is a suspect, there are no indications that he will be arrested soon.
