Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has ruled out a move for out of favour Chelsea attacker Salomon Kalou, and says Marouane Chamakh will not be leaving the club in the January transfer window.
Wenger is reportedly a long term admirer of Kalou, and with the Chelsea player’s contract set to expire in the summer, the Arsenal boss has been linked with a cut-price bid for the Cote d’Iviore forward.
Meanwhile, Manchester United youngster Ravel Morrison is also attracting interest from several clubs, after Sir Alex Ferguson revealed he had rejected a new contract.
Anderlecht striker Matias Suarez was also reported to have signed a pre-contract agreement with the Gunners, but Wenger was sharp in his response to suggestions any move was close.
“Ravel Morrison at Man United? No. We know him well,” Wenger said, according to the club’s official website.
“No [to Kalou and Suarez as well].”
Chamakh has endured a torrid year at the club despite such a promising start to his Arsenal career, and with the striker away with Morocco during January, Wenger says he will be spending the rest of the season at the Emirates.
He added: “He is at the Africa Cup of Nations, nothing will happen there.
“Will he come back? Yes.”
