Sudan national team will have their first friendly game during their camp in Qatari capital Doha as they prepare for their 2012 Orange CAF Cup of Nations, Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

The Desert Hawks will face newly promoted team Al-Jaish.

Sudan technical staff tried to arrange a friendly with Qatar national team but that didn’t work as the Qatar Stars League is currently underway and the later had a previously scheduled fixture with Jordan.

Sudan manager considered the game as an important start for their camp especially that the Qatari side has many star players like Brazilian Adriano, and is led by another Brazilian; Chamosa who has previously played for many other Qatari sides.

Desert Hawks manager Mohamed Abdullah ‘Mazda’ said “This game is very useful for the Hawks. I would have liked to face a stronger side, but as a start this is satisfying.

Al-Jaish has many good players, and the game is much better than just having training sessions. We will have another game before leaving to Dubai where we will face Tunisia on January 9th”.

Sudan national team underwent several training sessions as the technical staff worked on the players’ fitness levels and some tactical stuff. They finish their camp in Doha on January 6th before heading to Dubai where they will face Tunisia on the 9th.

The Hawks will afterwards visit Senegal to play the Teranga Lions on January 12thbefore heading to Gabon as they will face the hosts in a final friendly, and then fly to Equatorial Guinea.

Sudan is drawn in Group B alongside Cote D’Ivoire, Angola and Burkina Faso and will start their campaign against the Elephants on January 22nd.
