Pillars beat Ranch Bees 2-0

Yampe scored

Kano Pillars defeated Pro League outfit Ranch Bees 2-0 Sunday at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano in a pre-season match ahead of the new NPL season, which kicks off this weekend.

Pillars scored twice in the first half, through Nafiu Ibrahim in the 19th minute and John Yampe after 28 minutes.

“It was a good outing as the boys tried to prove themselves in front of a big crowd of fans who came out to see what the team will offer in the new season,” Pillars spokesman Idris Malikawa told MTNFootball.com

New signing from Plateau United Usman Shehu shone as attacking midfielder for the host team.

Other new signings who featured were Victor Barnabas (Enyimba) and Siman Yusuf (Kaduna United).

The team were handled by assistant coach Baba Ganaru following the sensational exit of Ladan Bosso to newly-promoted Wikki Tourist.

There are strong indications that the former El Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri handler will be allowed to take charge of Pillars until a decision is taken on a new head coach amid speculations of interest by several top coaches.

Pillars, who placed fourth last season, open their 2011/12 season on Sunday at home against Niger Tornadoes.
