Dijon coach Patrice Carteron has revealed that Marseille are among six other teams in the race to sign Chelsea starlet Gael Kakuta.
The 20-year-old was originally thought to be on his way to the newly-promoted side, after claims an accord was reached with Blues boss Andre Villas-Boas, but the former Cannes trainer is now aware the likes of Didier Deschamps’ outfit could blow them out of the water.
“We are in talks with Chelsea,” said Carteron.
“I have an agreement with Villas-Boas, but six clubs are interested in the player, including Marseille and Olympiakos, who have put more money on the table.”
Kakuta, a France U21 international, joined Chelsea in 2007, but he has thus far failed to break into the first-team picture at Stamford Bridge, while loan spells at Fulham and Bolton Wanderers have equally been fruitless.
