The Italian press had circulated quotes made by the agent that his alleged client was destined for a move to a European heavyweight, with a €30 million bid from Manchester City mentioned in the process.
However, Fourmeaux released a statement on Monday explaining that he was merely quizzed on where he felt the future of the 20-year-old would lie, before maintaining he had never claimed to be his agent.
“In my capacity, as a football agent, I analyse the situation of several players who currently play in the French league,” he said.
“In the course of the interview, particularly in relation to Mr. Hazard, I stated that he felt his future laid at a prestigious team.
“I must reiterate that during this event I did not claim to be the agent of the player, and although I did make a statement, I only echoed the statements made by the player himself,” he concluded.
